Meeting at the Ministry of Energy of Georgia

on July 4, 2017, the Ministry of Energy of Georgia hosted the member organizations of the Business Association of Georgia. 

At the meeting, initiated by the Energy Committee of the Business Association of Georgia, Irakli Khmaladze, Deputy Minister of Energy and Irina Milorava, Chairman of the Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, presented the amendments to the Law on Electricity and Natural Gas that have been introduced last week. The discussion touched upon the liberalization of the electricity market, in particular, the obligation of registering as a direct customer imposed on enterprises supplied by 35 or more kV network from May 1, 2018. Prospects of business activity of up to 40 MW deregulated power plants and changes expected in the market as a result of deregulation from January 1, 2018, have been also discussed.

The Ministry expressed its readiness and willingness to periodically hold such meetings with members of the Business Association of Georgia in order to ensure the maximum involvement of different parties of energy market in the process of discussion of current and planned changes.
