Persons with Disabilities and representatives of Business Organizations held a joint meeting “Equal Opportunities for all”

On September 20, 2016 ‘The Coalition for Independent Living initiated a meeting entitled “Equal Opportunities for all!” in the Expo-Georgia pavilion.

“Equal Opportunities for all” is the first meeting held in this format attended by the member organizations of the “Coalition for Independent Living and representatives of business organizations operating in Georgia such as the Business Association of Georgia, Georgian Employers’ Association, Georgian Banks Association, American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and its member companies. The moderator of the meeting was the acting Business Ombudsman of Georgia Mr. Zurab Dznelashvili.

The meeting laid the ground for open dialogue between the persons with disabilities and representatives of business organizations, allowing the parties to hold direct talks among one another about their needs and opportunities. The participants identified problems that are equally important to both, the persons with disabilities and the business sector in the fields of providing services and employment.

At the meeting, the persons with disabilities and representatives of the business sector agreed to create a standing Working Group to address important issued raised during the meeting. The Working Group will be comprised of representatives of disability organizations and business associations. Office of the Business Ombudsman of Georgia will be actively engaged in the work of the Group.
