Gas Expert at Energy Community Secretariat, Andrius Šimkus, visits Business Association of Goergia

On June 14 a meeting of Energy Committee of Business Association of Georgia was held. Member companies of the Association met with Andrius Šimkus  - Gas Expert at Energy Community Secretariat who is the author of Law of Georgia on Energy prepared by the Energy Community Secretariat.

Members of the Association received the information about the planned changes proposed by the Energy Union.

Speaking on the draft law, Mr. Šimkus  noted that the proposed document, on the one hand, envisages all the mandatory norms of the European Directives, and on the other hand, it is adapted to  the historical experience that Georgia has in the direction of the energy. It is important that the proposed draft law fundamentally changes the energy and natural gas market structures, which is important to increase market competitiveness and energy security.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the sessions of questions and answers, where the representatives of the companies discussed important issues for them.

In conclusion, the author of the draft law and the committee members agreed that the comments and proposals related to the conception will be prepared within the framework of Energy Committee of  Business Association Georgia, which will be sent to the Secretariat of the Energy Community.
