Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia,Deputy Prime Minister held the meeting with the representatives of the Business Association

First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Dimitry Kumsishvili met with the members of the Business Association of Georgia and represented the current reforms and macro-economic situation of the country to them.

Dimitry Kumsishvili expressed gratefulness for organizing the meeting and emphasized that the discussion of the current economic situation with private sector is of outmost importance.

“Meeting with the private sector and discussing the current situation with them is essential. We introduced the final data of 2015 and the results of the first quarter of 2016 to the business sector once again. As you know, the number of foreign investments amounted to 376 million USD, which is the highest index since 2008,” - the First Vice Prime Minister noted.

Dimitry Kumsishvili discussed in details the economic situation in Georgia and internal and external factors that influence it. According to the Minister, despite of the crisis, Georgia managed to present even more economic growth than it was expected, and became the regional leader in this respect. The conversation covered the positive dynamics of the foreign investments reducing the index of unemployment and increasing the number of foreign visitors.

Dimitry Kumsishvili noted that it does not matter if how good the economic situation is since the private business would always wish for the better and the Georgian Government welcomes this trend.

All the issued, which the business sector is interested in, were discussed at the meeting including drawing out a fast mechanism for implementation of the decisions on disputes and contracts. According to the First Vice Prime Minister, Georgian Government will make an essential announcement about this topic promptly. “The only thing I can say today, is that the economic group submitted to the court the suggestion signed by me where on creating the transparent platform for the issue. We are expecting the answer in a short period. We work hard in this direction,” – Kumsishvili stated.

The conversation also covered the bureaucracy and the rapid decisions, which are principally essential, as the First Vice Prime Minister stated. He also noted that rapid decisions are essential for creating the business-facilitating environment. 

By the end of the meeting, it was decided to conduct such a meetings on a regular basis.
