Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Zurab Chiaberashvili met members of Business Association of Georgia and talked about the reforms that are of interest to business. Minister made presentation on the investments made in the sector and discussed future investment opportunities. As the minister stated, creation of high-quality and modern healthcare system is one of the priorities of GOG. In order to achieve this goal government will support any initiative which increases investment in hospital sector and provides citizens with high-quality healthcare services. Zurab Chiaberashvili noted that main challenge of the sector is to make medical services financially affordable. For this reason, in parallel with constructions of new and modern hospitals, government is expanding the circle of insured citizens, which, on its hand, is a good stimulus for the development of insurance market.
From 1st September 2012 circa 1 800 000 citizens will possess state insurance, privately insured citizens, approximately 500 000 people are added to this number. As a result, by the end of the year every second citizen will be insured and will be able to use modern medical services without impediment.
