An intensive training session was held at the Business Association of Georgia (BAG) on the topic: "Energy Efficiency for Georgian Companies in the Context of New Legislation: Impact on Business and Best Foreign Practices".

The event, which was based on ISO standards, aimed to clarify the new legislative framework that is being gradually phased into effect regarding energy efficiency in Georgia. Foreign and local experts thoroughly discussed business obligations, risks, and practical ways to turn regulatory compliance into cost savings, enhanced competitiveness, and investment readiness.

The seminar was led by leading international and local experts: Jan Hanuš (CEO, ENVIROS, Czech Republic), Robert Macek (Energy Auditor, ENVIROS), Tamar Chakvetadze (International Projects Coordinator, ENVIROS), and Irakli Givishvili (CEO, Sustainability Science Academy).

As part of the training, participants reviewed Georgia's energy efficiency legislation, the mandatory energy audit cycle for large (first category) enterprises, minimum requirements for building construction and renovation, and the best practices of leading EU countries. Additionally, companies received a practical roadmap outlining the steps they need to take over the next 3–6 months, how to utilize international grants, and how to implement carbon footprint calculations and ESG reporting.

At the end of the event, participants interactively assessed their organizations' readiness and defined their priorities for the near future.

"The new energy efficiency standards and legislative requirements are no longer a distant prospect for Georgian business; it is a reality that already directly impacts operational processes. Our goal is to help member companies perceive these regulations not as an additional bureaucratic burden, but as a real business opportunity. Proper energy management and the implementation of ISO standards directly translate into cost optimization, increasing companies' competitiveness and, most importantly, their attractiveness to international investors and banks. BAG will continue to support its members in this direction in the future, with the aim of simplifying operations and increasing efficiency," stated Levan Vepkhvadze, CEO of the Business Association of Georgia.
