An Information Meeting on the Rules for Conducting Energy Audits Was Held at the Business Association of Georgia

2 Feb '26

A meeting was held at the Business Association of Georgia with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development regarding the enforcement of energy audit obligations for first-category enterprises.

The purpose of the meeting was to thoroughly inform the business sector about the legal and practical requirements provided under the Law of Georgia "On Energy Efficiency" and its relevant bylaws.

The conversation covered the "Rules for Conducting Energy Audits" and the resulting obligations for first-category enterprises, which came into force on December 31, 2025, by order of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. Attention was also focused on the importance of energy audits in terms of improving energy efficiency, reducing costs, and aligning with the goals of the country's energy policy.

Notably, the deadline for submitting information regarding enterprises subject to mandatory energy audits has been extended from February 1 to March 1 of this year. This change grants companies additional time to gather the necessary data and submit it to the Ministry in a timely manner.

The meeting concluded with a Q&A discussion, allowing business sector representatives to receive comprehensive information on the practical and legal aspects of conducting energy audits, which will facilitate the efficient and timely implementation of the new regulations.

"An energy audit represents not only a legal obligation but also an important tool for businesses to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs. Meetings like this allow the implementation of regulations to be as transparent and business-oriented as possible, which is a mutually vital process," stated Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Business Association of Georgia.
