9 Oct '13

On 9th of October, at the Radisson hotel, as a result of the agreement reached at the meeting between the chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia and representatives of the member companies of the Business Association of Georgia, communication between businesses and the Parliament will have a regular nature.
Based on the initiative of the Parliament of Georgia Davit Usupashvili, once in three months chairperson of the legislative body of the country, chairs of the committees and interested members of parliament will convene with the business representatives to discuss outstanding issues and with the purpose to exchange views and arguments.
As stated by David Usupashvili "such meetings will be held quarterly.  These meeting will be attended by committee chars and members of the Parliament, who are active in promoting the draft legislation, that is of interest for businesses. Legislators will introduce to the business representatives plans, arguments on reasons for adopting particular legislations. We also agreed that Business Association of Georgia will formally appoint a lobbyist to the Parliament, who will have a permanent office in the Parliament and no draft law will be reviewed, until we have the conclusions from the businesses".
Another important takeaway from our agreement on cooperation has been the representation  of the Business Association of Georgia to the Parliament with a formal lobbyist. " the lobbyist of the Business Association of Georgia will have a permanent office in the Parliament; all other offices, committees, meetings within the parliament will be open for him/her.
The lobbyist will be entitled to attend any such discussion",  David Usupashvili pointed out at the meeting. As stated by the President of the Business Association of Georgia George Chirakadze, business will make the most effective use of the suggested formats of cooperation in order to publicly and transparently present and support with argument its position related to topics that are important to businesses.
