A meeting with the Head of Pension Reform Unit

On 10th of December, in Tbilisi Marriott, BAG organized a meeting between Otar Dzidzikashvili, the Head of Pension Reform Unit at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the representative of Ministry of Finance and the representatives of BAG’s member companies in the framework of the Finance Committee. The Head of the Finance Committee, General Director of TBC Bank, Vakhtang Butskhrikidze headed the meeting.
On the meeting, the Head of Pension Reform Unit made a detailed presentation about the planned reform, where the BAG’s members companies had opportunity to listen when is planned to carry out the reform, what challenges are faced during carrying out the reform and the economic impact for the country. BAG’s members had the opportunity to ask questions to the head of Pension Reform Unit and the representative of the Ministry of Finance, Which a private sector has about pension reform.
By the statement of the head of the Finance Committee, Vakhtang Butskhrikidze, without pension reform development of capital markets won’t be available, which is a necessary condition for development of market economy. Vakhtang Butskhrikidze expressed satisfaction about starting this topic. We have to talk about this topic in the long term - 10 and 20 years later, how effective the reform will be after 10 and 20 years later, what is more profitable for the state, the budget, people, who will begin to accumulate today, - said Butskhrikidze.
As the Head of Pension Reform Unit, Otar Dzidzikashvili stated, to discuss the concept with the representatives of the business is very important. We have already had discussion with the business. Practically, all notes that it is a positive step as for a long-term social security, as well as this project has a significant economic effect, - stated Dzidzikashvili.
