BAG signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with Intellectual Property Center of Georgia “Sakpatenti

On 17th of June, at Sheraton Metekhi Palace Hotel, BAG held a presentation of the achieved results of Working Group with National Statistic Office of Georgia "Geostat". The First Vice-President of Business Association of Georgia opened the event and later gave a word to other speakers. General Director of "Geostat", Mr. Zaza Chelidze and Head of the joint Working Group of BAG and Geostat, Mr. Vano Baliashvili made presentations of the achieved results of the working group. The working group was established after signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between BAG and Geostat on 12th of March 2010.
The working group managed to identify problems and obstacles that exist in cooperation between a business sector and Geostat. The main obstacles of such cooperation were identified in filling in the questionnaire of Geostat and a trust between few companies and Geostat. The working group defined the new working direction - to work out mutual interests to encourage some business organizations more actively participate in filling in Geostat's questionnaires regularly.
According to Mr. Zaza Chelidze, the achieved results of the working group are very positive as he had an opportunity to get the needed information more effectively from the businesses and associations of different business spheres. As Mr. Vano Baliashvili said, any business organization needs correct statistical data for different purposes such as marketing research or preparing a business plan, which helps them define the strategy that bests suits to their business. The working group assisted Geostat and business to jointly identify the obstacles that exist in such cooperation, simplify and correct the questionnaires and define ways of more effective cooperation between Geostat and businesses.
In the second part of the event, between Intellectual Property Center of Georgia "Sakpatenti" and Business Association of Georgia Memorandum of Cooperation was drawn up. General Director of Intellectual Property Center of Georgia "Sakpatenti" Irakli Ghvaladze and First Vise-President of Business Association of Georgia Giorgi Isakadze signed the Memorandum of Cooperation.
In consideration that intellectual property plays a vital part in development of the country, its protection is essential in business progress and BAG has a significant potential for evolution of the innovational activities in the country. The memorandum was drawn up for two years period and at the expiration of the deadline its term of validity will be automatically proceeded for the same period. The parties agreed on close cooperation for the benefits of businesses in Georgia and Saqpatenti. As Mr. Irakli Ghvaladze stated, issues related to Intellectual Property Rights are becoming more and more important and popular in the country, especially for businesses as they develop quite fast.
According to Mr. Giorgi Isakadze, supporting Intellectual Property Rights and developments to this direction is very important for business sector and BAG has enough resources to cooperate with Saqpatenti and achieve desirable achievements in this direction, which will positively affect on development of businesses and therefore Georgia's further development.
