The Business Association of Georgia Hosted a Thematic Meeting on the Practical Importance of Private Pension Schemes

27 Apr '26

A thematic meeting was held at the Business Association of Georgia (BAG), dedicated to the implementation of private pension schemes and their practical importance for businesses. Within the framework of the event, leading experts and business representatives discussed the impact of private pension models both on individual companies and on the economic development of the country.

One of the main parts of the meeting was dedicated to sharing the experience of "Sakaeronavigatsia" (Georgian Air Navigation). As a pioneer in implementing a private pension scheme in Georgia, the company spoke in detail about the journey it has undertaken from the establishment of the scheme to the present day. The Financial Director, Irakli Zakareishvili, presented the challenges and outcomes that followed this decision to the attendees, emphasizing that the existence of such a scheme was the right step for the company's strategic development.

Asset management companies handling the scheme's assets—TBC Asset Management, BOG Asset Management, and Foresight Investment Group—actively participated in the discussion. They spoke about how participating in a pension scheme creates a competitive advantage in the labor market, particularly in terms of attracting qualified personnel and increasing employee loyalty.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the "Central Securities Depository of Georgia," who focused on the smooth functioning and technical-administrative aspects of the system.

The event continued in a Q&A format, where the association's member companies received practical recommendations regarding the procedures for implementing private pension schemes and the expected benefits.

"Today's meeting confirms once again that private pension schemes are no longer just a distant prospect; this is one of the most effective tools of modern business. Our goal is to show member companies that caring for the long-term well-being of employees directly reflects on business sustainability. The example of 'Sakaeronavigatsia' showed us that despite initial challenges, this model works successfully and creates a significant competitive advantage in the process of retaining talented personnel. We, as an association, continue to facilitate dialogue in this direction because we believe that a strong private pension system is one of the pillars of the country's economic stability," stated Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Business Association of Georgia.
