THE UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF FUNDS RAISED WITH THE EFFORTS OF THE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA WILL BE HANDED TO ABOUT 400 FAMILIES OF THOSE KILLED IN 2008 WAR

On September 20, at the premises of the Business Association, its President George Chirakadze held a press conference to inform the journalists about the details of financial aid rendered to the families of those killed in 2008 war.


According to the BAG President: "In order to support the families of those killed in 2008 Russia-Georgia war, the Business Association organized a charity dinner on June 5, 2011 at the Rustaveli State Drama Theater. The dinner was attended by the representatives of companies operating in Georgia who have contributed GEL 1,5 million in the form of charity. Thus, the unprecedented amount of funds were raised as a result of joint initiative of the Georgian business.


We would like to take this chance and on behalf of the Business Association of Georgia express gratitude to the General Sponsor of the charity dinner - Bank of Georgia, Platinum sponsor - JSC "Azot" Rustavi, Golden sponsors - JSC Madneuli and Quartzite, and Silver sponsor - Silk Road Group and Silknet, as well as all other companies taking part in this charity event.


During the past period BAG in close cooperation with relevant public institutions such as the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation, Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia drew up a complete list of the members of the families of military and civil persons killed in the war and has contacted them."


At this stage distribution of GEL 1 million is planned to the families of those killed in the war. Financial aid will be equally received by all families. Corresponding bank accounts have already been opened and charity funds will be transferred to this account by the end of this month.


With the remaining amount the Business Association will implement another charity project also dedicated to the victims of 2008 August war. Details of the project will be released.
