Business Association of Georgia and Parliament of Georgia Agreeing on the Establishment of Business Council

On January 12, the members of Business Association met the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Chairman of the Financial and Budgetary Committee of the Parliament and Minister of Finance of Georgia. The meeting was dedicated to review the issues of the enactment of new Tax Code and the possibility of establishment of Business Council.
As stated by the BAG President, Mr. Giorgi Chirakadze, the Tax Code that has become effective as of January 1, this year, does contain many rather progressive provisions and instruments compared to previously applicable acts. This facilitates the work of the business but at the same time shortcomings remain and works to eliminate and improve them will continue in the future within the framework of close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and Parliament.
Minister of Finance informed the businessmen of the new policy in administration of taxes, focusing on the establishment of fair, simple and reliable tax system. According to Kakha Baindurashvili, it is the Ministry's interest to actively cooperate with the business and as regards the enactment of Tax Code, the works with joint efforts on shortcomings proceeding from the practice is still underway. At the initiative of the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. David Bakradze, Business Council will be set up at the Parliament of Georgia to be composed of parliamentarians and businessmen. Chairman of the Parliament will be also involved in the work of the Council. As stated by Mr. David Bakradze, the Council will ensure improvement of communication and exchange of information between business and Parliament, as well as allow the businessmen to review their concerns in the format of direct dialogue with the legislative authority and even submit their own suggestions. The Business Council will launch its operation in the nearest future.
