The National Statistics Service of Georgia (GeoStat) has signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with sectoral associations in the Business Association's office on August 4.
The Memorandum has been signed with five sectoral associations: "Association of Property Developers of Georgia", "Association of Banks of Georgia", "Association of Wheat and Bread Producers" and "IT Business Council".
The Memorandum lays down the principles of cooperation between the parties within the framework of GeoStat's 2010 government program based on the exchange of mutual information between GeoStat and businesses.
Cooperation in this format will facilitate supply of private companies with quality and objective statistical information; on the other hand, GeoStat will receive quality, timely and comprehensive information from the companies, which in general supports improvement of quality and credibility of statistical information.
As stated by the Head of National Statistics Service, Zaza Chelidze - "Our goal is to receive detailed information from business associations and to minimize feedback failure. The existing legislation does not oblige the companies to issue statistical information, but it depends on their good will and if they agree to issue such information, it becomes an important factor in analyzing our statistical information. In exchange for this cooperation we offer monthly sectoral statistical information to these companies and it is important for their work".
When assessing the importance of the Memorandum, the Head of the Joint Working Group of GeoStat and BAG, Vano Baliashvili noted "Importantly, the business should closely cooperate with GeoStat. We've already given this example to business and are actively cooperating with National Statistics Service, thus increasing the feedback level".
