Working Meeting of the Committee for Employment and Labor Relations held at the Business Association
28 May '10
The BAG Committee for Employment and Labor Relations assembled on May 28 and heard the Chairman of the Committee Lasha Akhaladze who informed them on the work carried out and future plans.
According to Mr. Akhaladze, the Committee is actively involved in the Social Dialogue Trilateral Commission set up at the recommendation of International Labor Organization (ILO) within the Government of Georgia and chaired by the Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs. This Commission is comprised of the employers as well as trade unions and government. Main task of the Commission is to settle the conflicts related to labor relations as well as to develop different suggestions and recommendations regarding the labor legislations. Standing and temporary working groups are functioning within the framework of this Commission to work on specific issues and submit them to the Commission's sessions.
The trilateral Commission has already held its first meeting attended by the ILO representatives.
The existing cooperation format allows for settlement of disputes between the trade unions, government and employers in the constructive dialogue mode, being one of the ILO requirements to the GoG.
Furthermore as noted by the speaker, on June 1, 2010 99th ILO conference will be launched in Geneva which from the Georgian side will be attended by the representatives of employers, trade unions and government.
The Committee decided that all BAG members will periodically receive a bulletin describing the works carried out and future plans of the Committee for Employment and Labor Relations, as well as processes and novelties regarding labor relations. The Committee agreed that the first bulletin will be developed after the finalization of ILO conference and will also contain information about the results of the conference.
