The Leadership of BAG Meeting the Vice President of Consulting Firm CARANA CORPORATION

Vice President of the international company CARANA CORPORATION David Schacht paid visit to the Business Association of Georgia on May 24.

Representatives ACDI/VOCA Ketevan Chumburidze and Nikoloz Grdzeliedze also attended the meeting.

CARANA  CORPORATION is the leading USAID contractor consulting firm which renders consultancy to the government institutions, private companies and international donor organizations in the area of economic development. The company has been cooperating with USAID for 25 years already and during this period has implemented numberless long-term projects in over 80 countries.

As for ACDI/VOCA, it is a non-profit international organization which for 45 years and in 146 countries has been supporting economic development. By introducing democratic principles, liberalizing the market, establishing international trade relations it helps the businesses to explore new economic opportunities.

CARANA  CORPORATION  and ACDI/VOCA together with consulting firm Nathan Associates have formed a consortium and plan to implement USAID Economic Development Project (EPI) in Georgia.

The meeting aimed at familiarizing this consortium with the BAG activity and discussing the opportunities of future cooperation.

As noted by the BAG President George Chirakadze, there are quite a good opportunities for investments and doing business in Georgia due to liberal tax and customs legislations whereas for Georgian companies it is very important to access international and namely European and US markets.

The BAG is actively working on various opportunities for the development of Georgian companies as well as for country's economic advancement and establishment of favorable business environment.

The Committees functioning within the framework of the Association is a tool quite necessary and convenient for activeness and cooperation in various areas which could be used by international donor organizations in implementing individual projects.

Association's Vice President George Isakadze emphasized that the Association's activity is not limited to the interests of large companies solely and in the nearest future it is planned to set up a close cooperation format with SMEs which will encourage expansion of the scope of the association's work.
