First Meeting of the National Statistics Office of Georgia and BAG Joint Working Group

Within the framework of the Memorandum singed between BAG and GeoStat on March 12, the working group was established meeting at the BAG office with the leadership of Vano Baliashvili on April 8, 2010.

Representatives of the Association's member companies and of GeoStat attended the meeting.

The meeting aimed at acquainting the working group members with each other, and at defining the duties and working principles of the Group.

Key objectives in the work of the Group in the nearest future will be to support private companies, to ensure them with additional statistical information and reports important for their businesses by Geostat.

On the other hand, a goal to support GeoStat's work, through raising the confidence of business in this organization and cooperating therewith, was set.

As decided by the participants of the meeting, specific actions were planned which should lead to simplification and sophistication of the questionnaire forms to be submitted to GeoStat; In addition, GeoStat will develop a set of specific proposals which will be private companies' additional incentive for cooperation.

In order to increase the efficiency of the Group, it was decided, if there is an interest in the future, to invite representatives of the Revenue Service and companies engaged in marketing studies to work in the group.
