BAG members met the Minister of Energy of Georgia

On March 11th in Tbilisi Marriott Business Association of Georgia organized a meeting between Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze, Deputy Minister Mariam Valishvili, chairman of the GNERC Irina Milorava, Energoomdudsmen Salome Vardiashvili, and representatives of BAG's member companies.
The meeting focused on energy prices, also current and scheduled projects in the field of energy, implementation of rehabilitation works and other related issues. The minister announced that ministry of energy is fond of new offers about the energy projects and they are ready to work with business. The businessmen had opportunity to ask questions to the government officials.
On the meeting it also was discussed possible increase of gas price. The minister announced the gas price will be maintained till May 1. Additional consultations will be held between the parties about final decision of energy price.
As Kakha Kaladze mentioned: The energy price will be maintained till 1 May. We maintain the price at the charge of subsidy. The government has to discuss if they will expand the subsidy of gas price. For the moment the government subsidies for avoiding losses of the licensee company. We look forward and want to live in developed, educated and strong Georgia. The chairman of GNERC told that in commercial sector the gas price is deregulated and the price of natural gas is determined by the provider company.
